Here are the solutions to your previous homework assignment. The TA's and I will hand your graded homework back to you next class.
The grades were generally good but there were 3 common mistakes that people made on this homework assignment:
- Careless calculation errors
- Wrong general approach to the problems
- Not handing the homework in at all

I found this video of two of Hans Bethe students and thought you might enjoy this video. It is very interesting and it might even help you on your upcoming exam.

I will not be able to come to class on Thursday since I am going to a conference in New Zealand. So instead of getting a TA to teach the class, I have decided to just cancel the class. Class will resume on Monday at the normal lecture time.
However I highly recommend you use the extra time to start studying for the exam which will cover:
- Chapters 1-9
- Handouts 2, 4, 7
- All Homework assignments
Good Luck!

A couple of students have asked me to record the lectures and post them online. You probably want me to do this so you don't have to come to class. In any event, I will post the recordings of the lecture daily but I STRONGLY recommend you still come to class.

Hi class,
I hope you had a great summer and are ready to start working again. I will not assign homework the first week of school in order for you to have time to settle in. I will get back to you about TA office hours and our test schedule. I look forward to working with you.
